Opening of the Komatsu Hanover Innovation & Technical Center (HITeC) & relocation of the Komatsu Germany Construction Division to the Hanover site
The new Komatsu Hanover Innovation & Technical Center (HITeC) was inaugurated in early December 2019. Almost 1.5 years after ground breaking, close to 150 employees of the Komatsu Germany Construction Division moved into their new offices at the Komatsu HITeC.
The building brings development, production and sales engineers together under one roof, and allows the sustainable orientation of the company towards future-relevant topics such as digitalisation, networking and Construction 4.0.
In addition to offering state-of-the-art workstations within a pleasant and efficient working environment, the HITeC also sets new benchmarks in terms of environmental friendliness.
As a result of innovative measures, the low-energy building far exceeds the legal requirements and saves around 30% CO2 annually in comparison to an equivalent building.
Through high-tech innovations such as a “Virtual Reality Room” and construction machinery simulators, and the close proximity to Komatsu demo and test sites, the centre also boasts optimum framework conditions for sales and customer support activities.
Relocation to the new HITeC has resulted in a change to the business address of the Hanover-based Komatsu premises, with the new building located at the centre of the existing works site.
The new business address of KGC is now:
Komatsu Germany GmbH
Hanomagstraße 15 (rather than 9 as before)
30449 Hanover
Germany
Directions to the work site remains unchanged.
The building’s official opening ceremony took place in early October 2019 in the presence of Komatsu’s executive management headed by Mr Ogawa, President & CEO of Komatsu Ltd, along with well-known representatives from national and local politics as well as from diplomatic circles.
KGC Managing Director Güner welcomed guests of honour including the Ambassador of Japan in Germany, Mr Yagi, Dr Althusmann, the Minister for Economy, Transport and Digitisation of the State of Lower Saxony, Ms Kato, the Consul General of Japan, Ms Tegtmeyer-Dette, the First City Councillor and Head of the Department of Economic and Environmental Affairs of the City of Hanover, and Ms Michalowitz, Deputy President of the Region.
