Düsseldorf, February 2025 — At this year's Bauma, Komatsu is proud to present the PC7000-11E hydraulic mining excavator in backhoe configuration. The electrically powered excavator merges the powerful digging force of high-performance diesel machines with the lower carbon footprint of an electrically powered machine. Built to endure the toughest mining operations, the PC7000-11E represents exceptional durability, reliability and performance.
The 44 m³ backhoe bucket boosts productivity and truck payload match
The Komatsu PC7000-11E hydraulic mining excavator showcases a new level of versatility and efficiency in mining machinery. Equipped with a class leading 44m³ bucket, the excavator is engineered to meet the rigorous demands of modern global mining operations.
The PC7000-11E can be perfectly matched with the Komatsu mining truck range from 730E up to 980E. By pairing the 44m³ backhoe bucket with the 930E truck or larger, mining customers can reduce truck passes by one and increase their production, enhancing efficiency and productivity of the mining operation.
Komatsu provides a comprehensive range of attachments in backhoe and front shovel configuration tailored to increase loading performance. Komatsu OEM buckets are optimally designed for all phases of the dig cycle. The backhoe operation is ideally suited for challenging mining environments, to meet the demand of current and future mining operations where adaptability and high performance are critical. The PC7000-11E exemplifies Komatsu’s commitment to innovation and efficiency in mining solutions.
Electrification meets high performance
Aligned with Komatsu's sustainability focus, the electric drive is designed to reduce carbon footprint by up to 95% in scope 1 emissions compared to its diesel counterpart. When combined with Komatsu power-agnostic technology, customers can achieve a more sustainable mining operation. Benefits of electrically powered hydraulic mining excavators include reduced operating costs, elimination of Diesel fuel, significant reduction in parts and maintenance costs and lubrication costs, resulting in up to 50% savings in the total cost of ownership compared to conventional Tier 4 diesel drives.*
The fully automatic cable drum is designed for efficient operation of the electrically driven excavator. The automatic winding of the cable makes maneuvering in the pit safer and easier. Simplified electric machine control enables fast troubleshooting and maintenance of the electrical system, resulting in increased overall availability of the machine.
With the growing demand for decarbonization in the mining industry, many of our customers are setting ambitious greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction targets. Our electrified excavators deliver the same mobility, power, and productivity as diesel machines, while also helping customers meet their emissions goals. By combining operational efficiency with environmental responsibility, our electrified equipment plays a vital role in driving the mining industry’s transition to more sustainable practices.
With over 40 years of pioneering innovation in electric-driven hydraulic mining excavators, Komatsu has set industry benchmarks, delivering more than 260 machines, beyond 200 tons operating weight. These machines collectively achieved over 13.1 million operating hours, showcasing Komatsu's leadership in advancing electric drive technology for sustainable and efficient mining solutions.
Improved accessibility and advanced safety measures
The latest Komatsu hydraulic mining excavators all feature a 45° access system and a more comfortable machine access and egress as well as three emergency exits. These features highlight Komatsu's commitment to safety and operational efficiency in demanding mining conditions.
“Bauma is an ideal platform to connect with our global customers and future partners. As their trusted partner, we offer sustainable mining solutions tailored to our customer’s needs, even for the most demanding mining operations,” said Peter Buhles, Vice President Sales and Service, Komatsu Germany GmbH – Mining Division. “We are looking forward to connect with everyone in person at our booth, demonstrating our latest technical solutions for hydraulic mining excavators.”
Join us at Bauma in Hall C6 and outside booth FM713/1, where we will be demonstrating our technology and how it helps the mining industry meet emission reduction goals whilemaintaining operational efficiency.
* Some Komatsu customers have realized up to 47% savings in total cost of ownership. These results are those of customers under their unique operational circumstances. Individual results may vary. Calculations are based on a comparison to the PC7000-11 diesel, and assumes the following costs: diesel fuel: $1.20 USD/liter, electric power: $0.06 USD/kWh
